Description

This Turkey and Cranberry Wreath is a festive and delicious holiday appetizer perfect for using up Thanksgiving leftovers. It features shredded turkey mixed with cranberry sauce, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, green onions, and Swiss cheese, all wrapped in a golden crescent roll dough wreath baked to perfection. A perfect combination of savory and sweet flavors that’s sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Wreath Dough

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Filling

  • 2 cups cooked turkey, chopped or shredded
  • 1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese

Finishing

  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare:** Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Form the Wreath Base:** Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into 16 triangles. Arrange these triangles in a circle on your baking sheet, overlapping the wide ends slightly in the center and pointing the tips outward, creating a wreath shape.
  3. Mix the Filling:** In a large bowl, combine the chopped turkey, cranberry sauce, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, finely chopped celery, sliced green onions, and shredded Swiss cheese. Mix thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  4. Assemble the Wreath:** Spoon the turkey and cranberry filling evenly in the center of the crescent dough circle, leaving some space at the edges. Fold the pointed ends of the crescent dough over the filling and tuck them securely under the center to hold the wreath together.
  5. Add the Egg Wash:** Brush the entire crescent dough wreath with the beaten egg to give it a beautiful golden brown finish once baked.
  6. Bake:** Place the wreath in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crescent dough is puffed up, set, and golden brown in color.
  7. Cool and Serve:** Allow the wreath to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before slicing and serving warm to your guests.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken for turkey if desired.
  • Add chopped pecans for a festive crunch.
  • Great way to use Thanksgiving leftovers.
