Description

A flavorful and quick Asian-inspired steak and shrimp stir-fry noodle dish combining tender sirloin, succulent shrimp, and crisp mixed vegetables tossed in a savory sauce. Perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Noodles

  • 8 ounces stir-fry noodles or lo mein noodles

Protein

  • 8 ounces sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces shrimp, peeled and deveined

Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (such as bell peppers, snap peas, and carrots)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Sauces & Oils

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles: Cook the noodles according to package instructions, drain thoroughly, and set aside to prevent overcooking and clumping.
  2. Cook steak: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add sliced sirloin steak and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned on the outside but not fully cooked through, ensuring tenderness.
  3. Cook shrimp: Add the shrimp to the pan with the steak, and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove both steak and shrimp from the pan and set aside to avoid overcooking.
  4. Stir-fry vegetables: In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed. Stir-fry the mixed vegetables for 3–4 minutes until they become tender but still crisp, preserving texture and flavor.
  5. Add aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan with the vegetables, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant, which enhances overall flavor.
  6. Combine proteins and noodles: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the pan. Add the cooked noodles and toss everything together to prepare for the sauce.
  7. Prepare sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and optional red pepper flakes for a balanced savory and slightly spicy flavor.
  8. Add sauce and finish cooking: Pour the sauce over the noodle mixture and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes to heat through and allow the flavors to meld perfectly.
  9. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving to add a fresh and nutty finish.

Notes

  • Partially freeze the steak before slicing to make it easier to cut thin strips.
  • Feel free to swap vegetables to your preference or use pre-cut stir-fry vegetable mixes for convenience.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce sodium content if desired.
  • For extra heat, increase the red pepper flakes or add a splash of chili oil.
  • Ensure to not overcook shrimp as it can become rubbery.
