Description

A savory and easy-to-make Mushroom Ground Beef skillet recipe that combines tender ground beef with finely chopped mushrooms, onions, and garlic, enhanced with Worcestershire and soy sauces. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, served over rice, mashed potatoes, noodles, or in lettuce wraps.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz mushrooms, finely chopped (button or cremini)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Oil: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat to prepare for sautéing.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes until fragrant and softened.
  3. Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until it is mostly browned and no longer pink.
  4. Add Mushrooms and Seasonings: Stir in the finely chopped mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Cook Until Tender: Continue cooking the mixture for another 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are tender and the beef is fully cooked through.
  6. Adjust Seasoning and Garnish: Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
  7. Serve: Serve the dish warm over rice, mashed potatoes, noodles, or in lettuce wraps according to your preference.

Notes

  • For a creamy variation, stir in 1/4 cup sour cream or cream cheese at the end of cooking.
  • This mixture makes an excellent filling for stuffed peppers, tacos, or savory pies.
