Description

Brownie Batter Puppy Chow is a delicious no-bake snack mix featuring crispy Rice Chex cereal coated in a luscious blend of melted chocolate, peanut butter, and brownie mix. This sweet treat is perfect for parties, snacks, or edible gifts and can be made gluten-free by selecting appropriate ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 1/2 cups brownie mix (dry, store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cereal: In a large bowl, add the 6 cups of Rice Chex cereal and set it aside to be coated later.
  2. Melt chocolate mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, and 1/4 cup unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
  3. Add flavorings: Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of salt into the melted chocolate mixture to enhance the flavor.
  4. Coat the cereal: Pour the chocolate mixture over the Rice Chex cereal. Using a spatula or spoon, gently stir to evenly coat all the cereal pieces with the chocolate mixture.
  5. Combine coating mixture: In a large zip-top bag or sealable container, combine 1 1/2 cups dry brownie mix and 1/2 cup powdered sugar. This will be the dry coating for the cereal.
  6. Shake to coat: Add the chocolate-coated cereal to the bag with the dry mixture. Seal the bag tightly, then shake vigorously until every piece of cereal is fully coated with the brownie mix and powdered sugar mixture.
  7. Set and cool: Spread the coated puppy chow evenly across a baking sheet. Let it cool and set for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the coating to harden slightly.
  8. Storage: Store the finished Brownie Batter Puppy Chow in an airtight container at room temperature to keep it fresh and crunchy.
